Jane Bridle featured artist
My work in ‘Double Vision’ is abstract and is based on an aerial view of the Barkly Tableland where my son works as a helicopter pilot. I have visited him there several times and I’m excited by the vast expanse of the landscape especially when viewed from the air; the colours, shapes and patterns of the trees, grass, claypans and waterways.
New Featured Artist: Dana
Dana McCown has had a long career in artistic endeavours. Jewellery was her initial focus, but textiles became an absorbing interest. Respect for a linen tablecloth handwoven by a Swedish great aunt motivated her to attend a weaving workshop 40 years ago.
Beverley Bloxham
The “SELF-evident’ series has been developed from memories, dreams & intuition. The house forms are visual metaphors for the higher SELF – that place where intuition and inspiration reside.

AVANT GARDEN 2008
September 26, 2008 12:00 am to October 31, 2008 12:00 am
Arts Council Toowoomba were successful winning a grant from Arts Queensland’s art+place program, so AVANT GARDEN went ahead for a second year. Toowoomba Regional Council also continued their generous in-kind support and this year we also welcomed the University of Southern Queensland as a partner.
Approximately 40 artists attended the briefing workshops in June, and 24 artists submitted Expressions of Interest. Of these, 15 artists proceeded to fabrication stage.
The completed artworks were installed in Toowoomba’s public parks and gardens in time for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers - 26th September and continued until 31st October 2008.
