DOUBLE VISION – ‘impressions of light and reflections’’
A series of paintings exhibited with Elaine Lyons at the Balonne River Gallery, Cobb and Co Changing Station, Surat, Qld. in June – July 2007.
My work in ‘Double Vision’ is abstract and is based on an aerial view of the Barkly Tableland where my son works as a helicopter pilot. I have visited him there several times and I’m excited by the vast expanse of the landscape especially when viewed from the air; the colours, shapes and patterns of the trees, grass, claypans and waterways.
Memories, reflections, sketches and photographs – mine and my son’s – stimulate and inspire me. I paint in acrylics, polymer varnish and ink on canvas, paper and board and generally develop my paintings by building up many layers of paint giving depth to the work.
