AVANT GARDEN 2008
With the notification that we have been successful winning a grant from Arts Queensland’s art+place program, AVANT GARDEN is under way for a second year. Toowoomba Regional Council continue their generous in-kind support and this year we also welcome the University of Southern Queensland as a partner.
Approximately 40 artists attended the briefing workshops in June, and 24 artists submitted Expressions of Interest. Of these, 15 artists proceeded to fabrication stage.
The completed artworks were installed in Toowoomba’s public parks and gardens in time for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers - 26th September and continued until 31st October 2008.
THE GREATER TOOWOOMBA POSTCARD PROJECT 2009
CONCEPT
This project challenges you to produce a 170mm x 120mm image of an original artwork portraying any aspect of your experience of Toowoomba. The images of the chosen artworks, which can be in any medium, will be reproduced as a set of postcards.
WHO CAN ENTER?
This competition is open to all members of the region and those who know and love Toowoomba. You are invited to interpret your experience of the Toowoomba region in a creative and original way.
Entrants can be
- of any age or ability
- from, or know of & love Toowoomba
- of amateur or professional status
ENTRY FEE
- $5 per artwork for financial ACT members
- $10 per artwork for non-members.
CLOSING DATE
Submission dates for 2009 will be advised.
